Our tips for dry hands

Unsere Tipps gegen trockene Hände

Many people are familiar with the feeling of dry, cracked skin on their hands. Especially in winter, with freezing temperatures and dry air from heating, the skin on our hands needs more intensive care.

The cold causes the sebaceous glands in our skin to produce less oil. As a result, the skin's protective acid mantle is not replenished as effectively. The skin becomes flaky, brittle, and in extreme cases, even cracked. Itching and burning sensations on the hands are also common.

We have 4 tips for combating dry and cracked skin on the hands:

The right skincare:

In winter, skin needs richer hand creams . The drier the skin, the more oil the cream should contain. Since greasy hands are undesirable during the day, it's important to ensure the hand cream absorbs well. Hand creams with an anti-aging effect are particularly suitable, as their rich oils provide ample moisture.

Regular application of cream:

Once you've found a good hand cream, you should apply it regularly throughout the day and night, especially if the skin feels tight or dry. Don't forget the backs of your hands and between your fingers, as these are where dry patches are most noticeable.

Don't wash your hands too often:

Thorough handwashing helps prevent infections, but hand soap also removes essential oils from the skin. Using hot water intensifies this effect. Instead, opt for a moisturizing hand sanitizer. For dirty hands, use a pH-neutral soap or hand wash oil with lukewarm water.

Protect your skin:

Of course, we can also take steps to better protect our hands by avoiding excessive strain on the skin. Wear warm gloves in colder temperatures and always use protective gloves when handling household cleaning products.
